Toby Keith Launches Show Dog Records

("...music before business." Now, that's MY kind of record label...
Kenny)
-------------
From an Mi2n press release:

Country superstar Toby Keith now has something in common with Herb
Alpert, the band leader who co-founded A&M Records even as he was
dominating the charts. Like Alpert, Keith is launching his own record
label while at the top of his game. Show Dog Records, a stand-alone
label distributed by Universal, opens September 1.

"The only thing we take seriously is the music," Keith says. "That's
our motto." Keith is the first signing to the label, which resulted
from his desire to exercise complete creative control over his career.
His next album is Show Dog's first release.

"I've worked with UMG Distribution my whole career and they've always
done a great job," says Keith, who's sold 25 million albums to date.
"The DreamWorks promotion staff really worked hard over the last five
years and I appreciate all their efforts. Country radio, too, has been
very good to me and I look forward to working with them as we get Show
Dog rolling."

Keith, who's single "As Good As I Once Was" has been #1 on the country
singles chart for six weeks and who absolutely dominated the country
album charts this summer with two albums in the top 10, now joins his
third label, following stints on Mercury and most recently DreamWorks.
A top-shelf executive staff for the new venture will be announced in
the coming weeks.

During a radio convention in Nashville earlier this year, Keith
revealed he was planning a label with the cajones to put music before
business. Now he's putting his money and career where his mouth is.
How's that for Tijuana Brass?

I am a huge supporter of new music and I am the co-host of The Wake-Up, the morning show at Frog Country 101.5 in Iron Mountain, MI.
I absolutely love the ideals behind Show Dog Records and will do what I can to support any artists involved.

I have another show I produce called, 'Country Frontiers'. The show is designed to showcase artists by featuring interview segments with two songs. The show runs about 15 minutes. If you would like to be a guest, please contact me at 1-800-236-5731.

Congratulations on your success and hope you have much more!

I,m looking for those who fill & carry the water buckets out there full of hopes and dreams, this great country offers, to the country music world. I,d like to be a drop in that bucket but I have no idea where to begin. I think it begins with evaporation, then ends in the sea. Friends tell me I need to publish my songs. I honestly can hear Toby singing them but I think I,d do a better job. Mark Jordan (okieheart)
